Customer payments: record cash and an explicit deduction
Record a customer's payment and stated deduction in ERPClaw, review the balanced entry and confirm before posting.
Record the amount received and the deduction the customer actually took. Keep the reason and the account used for the deduction explicit.
The recorded example
Acme owed $2,500, paid $2,450 and took a $50 discount. After confirmation, ERPClaw posted:
| Account | Debit | Credit |
|---|---|---|
| Checking | $2,450 | |
| Sales Discounts | $50 | |
| Accounts Receivable | $2,500 |
The entry balanced and the invoice was marked paid. The $50 was an explicit customer-taken deduction.
Actions and review
add-payment creates the payment draft with its allocation and explicit deduction; update-payment can change them while the payment is still a draft. In this example, the payment’s paid_amount includes both the cash and the deduction: $2,500. The payment applies $2,450 of cash and the $50 deduction against the $2,500 invoice.
Check the customer, invoice, cash account and deduction account. submit-payment posts the reviewed payment after confirmation. Read the invoice and the resulting ledger entries to check the outcome.
