Month-end close: preview, review and post

Use ERPClaw's month-end preview to find draft journals, due recurring work and fiscal-year blockers before running selected templates.

Start with a preview of the company and closing date. journal-month-end-close-preview reads draft journal entries, due recurring templates and the fiscal year covering that date. It changes no journals, ledger entries or audit records.

Check what needs attention

Review the draft entries and template names returned by the preview. Use get-recurring-template to read a template’s amounts and posting configuration. Resolve a missing or closed fiscal year and review existing drafts before running the close.

Run the work you selected

journal-run-month-end-close requires an explicit selection of recurring template IDs. It validates the selection and runs those templates together. The result includes the created journals and a fresh preview.

A template’s auto_submit setting determines whether its generated journal posts automatically. For a review-first close, use templates with auto_submit disabled. Review the resulting draft journals and use submit-journal-entry when ready to post.

Review the books

Use trial-balance to read account balances. validate-period-close reports income, expenses, net income and whether the trial balance is balanced. Review those results before moving to year-end close.

These are operator steps for a reviewed close. Keep the company’s review and approval process alongside them.
